What is Retreat center
Buddhism which is presented in the West mainly by Lama Ole Nydahl especially addresses the so-called lay practitioners. In addition to their jobs, partners, and families, they pursue the Buddhist methods of the Diamond Way, and the experiences gained from regularly meditating are applied to everyday life. However, if they have a bit of time and the right conditions, they come to Těnovice for a few days or even just a weekend, to a center for secluded meditation where there is normally more time and peace than during the course of the work week.
Lama Ole Nydahl comes here every year for several days. In the summer of 2008 one of the most important representatives of the Karma Kagyu school was here, Sherab Rinpoche. This year the careful preparations are in motion for a visit from the head of our lineage, H.H. 17th Gyalwa Karmapa and his father Mipham Rinpoche, a distinguished representative of the Ningma school.
The center is open year-round, but most practicing Buddhists come for weekends. The time here is spent pursuing group or individual practice. The responsibility of running the center is with the Těnovice team, where anyone who has something to contribute to the development of the center can become a member.
